The Effects of Long Term Inflammation on the Body

Inflammation is one of the malignant illnesses that affect individuals; persistent forms can lead to serious risks, including death or acute illnesses. The awareness behind the seriousness of inflammation is supported by certain questions, such as the type of tests done to confirm that an individual has inflammation. There are several developed tests that an individual can undergo to confirm if they are a candidate for inflammation. However, scientists warn that these tests can not differentiate between certain illnesses and inflammation.

The illness shares certain symptoms with other common illnesses, including the common cold and Obesity, among others. Scientists warn that it is crucial to distinguish these forms of illnesses to avoid a misdiagnosis.  A misdiagnosis will also lead to the development of chronic illnesses, including cancer.

The tests that physicians use when assessing for inflammation

Physicians utilise four standard methods to test the rate of inflammation, including testing the C-reactive protein levels, where its levels increase with the rate of inflammation. The protein levels are typically 3mg/L. However, after the initiation of the inflammation increase, the protein can be produced at 100mg/L.

Other tests include examining the levels of Ferritin, a blood protein and  Fibrinogen, a crucial protein in blood clotting. Although it is common to confuse inflammation and other illnesses, there are moments when the tests can be conclusive. These moments include identifying other illnesses that accrue due to inflammation and observing the illnesses. An example of these illnesses includes giant cell arteritis and rheumatoid arthritis, among others.

Routine check-ups to confirm the level of inflammation in the body

The tests conducted do not issue conclusive results; thus, individuals can acquire a false positive or negative. Therefore these tests are not considered to be mandatory. It is rare to include it in a  routine medical check-up on an individual. However, certain organisations place it as a requirement for a few of their consumers.

Scientists and physicians recommend a simpler method of dealing with inflammation which is to find a healthy lifestyle and ensure that you are taking care of your body to pick out symptoms of illnesses that can cause inflammation.
