They managed to make a movie that’s shattering everyone’s expectations. Critics are raving about how great it is, people can’t stop watching it, and in turn, the movie is destroying box office records.

The movie couldn’t possibly be a bigger success. It’s unbelievable really. More importantly, the movie is really good, probably one of the best Marvel has ever made.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Honestly, I’m not trying to be liberal and PC here by throwing praise at a movie about black people. No, the movie does deserve this praise. It uses the successful Marvel superhero format to tell a real story, a one that has an actual impact on our society. The entire movie is basically a metaphor for the oppression African Americans have endured over the centuries. Furthermore, they still have to endure all of this. Something that we white people don’t really notice nor do we appreciate.

I’m very glad this movie was made and that it’s so successful. Besides racism, it covers Africa’s culture beautifully. People rarely get to see what a great cultural heritage Africa has. We simply dismiss it as the third world. And just because it is a poor continent, its people still have a lot to offer.

Then there’s Killmonger. The Best Villan Marvel Has Ever Given Us. Period.

But let’s go back to the box office. Black Panther is simply annihilating it. It’s been on for less than two weeks and earned over $700 million. It’s shattering all possible records in North America and more. Besides that, other movies are having a hard time getting noticed by moviegoers because of Black Panther.

What’s more, the movie is only starting its release. It’s yet to be made available in China and Japan, two huge markets for Hollywood movies. With this in mind, it’s inevitable for Black Panther to cross the $1 billion mark. Only Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers managed to do this. And these were all movies with superhero mashups and epic battles. Black Panther only deals with Black Panther.

I can’t wait for it to join this club, this movie deserves to be there because we need more movies that deal with Africa and African Americans. And we need superhero movies to show diversity as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
