A survey of 1000 Americans conducted by OnePoll asked Americans about their bathing habits. Researchers found that 51% did not agree with celebrities such as Mila Kunis, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ashton Kutcher on showering and think it is essential to shower regularly.
Most Americans believe they should shower regularly
However, 31% of the respondents don’t think showering daily is essential. About 35% of the participants who believed showering every day was necessary to shower regularly. The other 15% do it every other day. Another 8% of the participants admitted to showering once every week, and 4% prefer to shower twice a day. One of the celebrities who contributed to the debate was Dwayne “the rock” Johnson, who said he bathed up to three times a day. He stated that he took a shower immediately after getting out of bed, after his workout and when he returned home from work.
Of the respondents, 1 in 3 said they showered after they broke a sweat. A third said they only shower when they start to smell unpleasant or have greasy hair. Another 3 in 10 say they are too busy to shower, while 53% said they tried to find time to shower despite their circumstances
Parents tend to bath their children frequently
When asked about the bathing habits of their children aged between 0 and 9, about 84% of parents said that bath time is an essential part of their daily routine.
One celebrity couple held a different view on their children’s bathing routines. In an interview on The View, a show on ABC, Kristen Bell and her husband Dax Shepard said they wait for their children to smell before bathing them. Shortly before, Kunis and Kutcher, another couple, said they clean their children when they see the dirt building. Surprisingly, 63% of parents agreed with these views. However, 1 in 4 did not.
About 35% of parents said they made bath time a priority for their children and bathed them seven times a week or more. This was especially true when the children started to smell (32%) or sweat (37%). Parents were generally thought that hygiene was crucial for their children and bathed their children more than they did themselves.
