5 Benefits of Ductless Air Conditioners (New Cooling Technology!)

Many people are familiar with air conditioners (A/C) in their home that are known as central ACs. They have usually one big outside motor unit, and blow cold air into your home via a series of ducts and vents built into the walls and ceilings. However, there is another kind of home A/C system.

This other A/C system is called a ductless A/C, also known as a split system. It requires no duct work and uses small wall mounted units to blow cold air into that room. The interior units are connected to a small compressor unit outside of the home. These interior units can be place in one or all the separate rooms of your home. Each unit is independent and are individually controlled by a hand held remote control. The main benefits of having such a ductless A/C system are listed below.

Comfort and Convenience

Ever have family arguments about where to set the central thermostat in your home? With a ductless system, each room has its own unit and thermostat. So, at the same time one room is kept ice cold, another room can have the A/C switched off. This allows everyone in the family to have their individual rooms at the temperature they prefer.

Saves Money

Why cool or heat the whole house when only one room is occupied? That is a great waste of money. With the ductless A/C, you only need to run the inside wall unit in the occupied room, without the others running. Because this can reduce your electric bill, it will save you money – both in the summer and the winter.

Easier Installation

Compared to a central A/C system, ductless systems are way easier, quicker – and less expensive – to install. Not only will this save you money, but your time as well. The technicians can be done relatively quickly and not keep you tied up. Also, if you have to install brand new ducts and vents to put in a central A/C, you are talking about a big mess in your home during the installation. With no ducts, this will not happen.

Lower and Easier Maintenance

Servicing a central A/C unit is usually cumbersome, time consuming and expensive. Ductless units can easily be mostly self maintained, as the interior units are accessible and simple to service – typically cleaning the filter. This is more convenient and of course saves you money. Even if the outside unit needs servicing – which is not often – it is easier and cheaper for the technician to do this work versus a central A/C unit.

More Environmentally Friendly

All A/Cs use some sort of gas to make the compressor work. The type of gas used in a ductless system is much less harmful to the environment and usually does not leak as often as a central A/C. Also, because these ductless units are more energy efficient, they reduce the amount of electricity that needs to be produced.
