Kia Seltos

This is one of the best attempts at producing a budget sub-compact SUVs. It has a starting price of about $23,000 and can get up to $30,000 on the fully maxed out SX-turbo variant. Although it is technically a compact/subcompact car, it is quite spacious with lots of room for everyone in every seat.

About the looks, it is a tall SUV with very high seating positions, so it can’t be confused with a sedan or a hatchback. The seats are comfortable. The front seats are equipped with 10-way state-of-the-art power seats with adjustable lumbar. The backseats are reclinable, allowing for more comfortable long rides. The cargo space is plentiful. The back seats can be folded down to reveal even more space.

The car comes standard with a 1.6-liter engine with 175 hp and a whopping 195 pound-feet of torque. These high numbers allow for very quick acceleration, doing 0-60 in about 8 seconds.
The fuel economy is very decent, with 25 MPG-city and 30 MPG-freeway.

Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid

This is one of the best-looking budget SUVs on the market; with a sleek design, anyone could be fooled into thinking it costs a whole lot more than it does. It is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and paired with an electric motor that gives a combined 219 horsepower.

Although it is not as roomy as the Kia Seltos, the Rav 4 hybrid can still boast comfort in its seats. It even has the option of having two fast-charging USB ports in the back to charge tablets, phones, etc. TheIn addition, the fuel economy on this car is very good with a rating of 30mpg city and 40mpg freeway.

Although it doesn’t boast the best ride or the best hybrid engine, the price of this lineup makes it very attractive to car enthusiasts on a budget.

Mazda CX-30

Mazda created the CX-30 lineup to bridge the gap between the small C-3 and the larger C-5(why it wasn’t called the C-4, we would never know). It is a small SUV that conveniently satisfies any modern vehicle’s basic comfort, safety, and technology requirements.

It has a very refined interior design, with the option of having heated front seats, a moonroof, and memory and power seats for the driver. Storage in the CX-30 is decent, with moderately sized bins by the doors. The cargo space would contain most baggage. You might find that the hatchback isn’t good for taller stuff. However, they can be laid horizontally if the back seats are folded down.

The CX-30 packs a whopping 250 hp engine and can be stepped up to a turbocharged spec. It can launch from 0-60 in just 9 seconds and just over 6 seconds with the turbocharged variant.
The fuel economy is manageable with a rating of 28 MPG standard and drops with the more sophisticated variants.
