Cheap Electric Cars To Use Already In 2023

Electric cars, also called Electric Vehicles (EV), are becoming increasingly popular today. This is not only because of the high cost of gasoline, but also because more people are concerned about the environment. Since an EV does not produce any exhaust fumes, they are also considered “green” – meaning that they are friendly for the environment.

Many people have misconceptions about EVs. Some associate them with clunky “golf cart” types of vehicles. Others think EVs are all like the high-end cars offered by Tesla. The fact is that there are many models of EVs that are just like regular passenger cars, but with an electric motor instead of a gasoline engine.

Another misconception is about how much an EV cost. While there are high end models by Tesla and others for way over $50,000, there are some very respectable 2021 models available that sell for $35,000 and even less. The four least expensive EV’s are discussed below.

2021 Mini Cooper SE - Average Price: $29,311

This EV is very affordable, and like other Mini Cooper cars, it is stylish and fun to drive. The SE handles very nicely and is easy to park. It also has a relatively fast charging time of four hours. The draw back to this model is its limited range of 110 miles on a charge. However, that should be enough for most people’s daily driving requirements. This model comes with a new car warranty of 4 years / 50,000 miles.

2021 Nissan LEAF - Average Price: $30,692

This model is offered by a long time favorite of affordable cars – Nissan. The LEAF has good handling and surprisingly good acceleration (which can be a problem with some EVs). This EV has a respectable range of 149 miles. A couple of negatives regarding the LEAF is a long charging time of eight hours and limited storage space. This model comes with a new car warranty of 3 years / 36,000 miles.

2021 Hyundai Ioniq Electric - Average Price: $32,815

Hyundai has improved this model since its introduction. Today’s Ioniq has an improved range of 170 miles, more power and a better dashboard. It also has a good charging time of six hours. A main complaint about this model is about its very small rear seat. The Ioniq comes with a fantastic new car warranty of 5 years / 60,000 miles PLUS 10 years / 100,000 miles on the drivetrain.

2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV - Average Price: $35,396

This EV gives you an excellent value because of its very impressive range of 259 miles. It also has a larger cabin than the other EVs discussed above. Another nice benefit to this car is that Chevy rolled this model out almost everywhere. Therefore, servicing is usually available wherever you find a Chevy dealer.

Some negatives of this EV is a long charging time of ten hours and a sub-standard interior. The new car warranty of 3 years / 36,000 miles could have been more generous.
