Avengers: Infinity War – Where Are All the Infinity Stones?

In Films

Since Avengers: Infinity War will be gracing us with its existence in cinemas very soon, I thought that it would be a good idea to make a guide of sorts for the infinity stones – the main things behind the whole story. There are six of these and Thanos has to get them all in order to have infinite power. This way he’ll be able to completely alter reality and life themselves.

Each of the stones (except one) have been introduced in the numerous MCU movies that came before. But with so many movies, it’s hard to keep track of all of them. So, here’s an easy guide for you to remind yourself.

The Space Stone

The first to be introduced is the blue space stone – the Tesseract. It appeared in Thor and the first Captain America movie. Then it returned in the first Avengers when Loki used it to open a portal that unleashed the Chitauri on New York. Indeed that seems to be the main power of the space stone – to open portals that connect worlds (but it also powered the weapons of Hydra forces in the first Captain America for whatever reason…). It had its last appearance in Thor Ragnarok and is now currently in Loki’s hands. Loki being Loki, he’s taking the stone to Thanos.

The Mind Stone

The yellow mind stone first appeared in Loki’s scepter in The Avengers. If you remember, the stone is capable of controlling minds and enhancing intelligence. It was later used by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker to give powers and in turn create Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Later in the same movie (Avengers: Age of Ultron) it was used by Tony to turn his AI assistant Jarvis into Vision. The stone is still on Vision’s head and judging by the trailers for Infinity War, it won’t remain there for long.

The Reality Stone

The red reality stone only appeared in Thor: The Dark World as the liquid Aether. The stone seems to have the ability to return the universe to nothingness that was before the Big Bang. The Asgardians gave it to the Collector, and as far as we all know, it’s still there.

The Power Stone

The purple power stone only appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronan tried to destroy Xandar with it, but he was foiled by the Guardians, as you all know. It currently resides with the Nova Corps on Xandar.

The Time Stone

The green time stone is also known as the Eye of Agomotto. It was used by Doctor Strange in his titular movie. The stone manipulates time and is currently with the Masters of the Mystic Arts in Nepal, specifically with Wong and Doctor Strange.

The Soul Stone

The mysterious soul stone is orange and is yet to appear in any Marvel movie. It can presumably control souls of the living and the dead. There are speculations that Thanos already has this one, but nothing is certain. It might also be in Wakanda. Who knows. We’ll see in the movie that’s set to be released in just a week from now.
