A recent study conducted by OnePoll on behalf of World of Warships revealed that individuals could make long-time friends while playing video games compared to physically making friends. The study discounted the notion that playing outside is healthier and promotes a child’s ability to make lasting friendships. Study authors revealed that throughout 18months, at least five solid relationships were formed through video games.
Americans could consider inviting online friends to personal events
The authors targeted a population of at least 2000 participants and enquired about their ability to create friendships online. The majority of the participants revealed that they were close enough with their online friends that they would consider inviting them to their wedding. The authors reiterated that the increase in online connections resulted from the pandemic regulations.
These connections influenced certain life-long decisions, including the best candidate to marry: 46% of the participants declared that they would marry a partner who was part of the digital world. A few participants admitted that they met their partners through the gaming world and have never been happier. It was also a deep revelation that most participants admitted that they felt less isolated when they engaged with someone online.
The ability of an individual to purchase an online game creates a sense of the purpose that cant is replaced. Digital games can also improve an individual’s knowledge of certain topics: these topics can be internationally impactful or adds a level of knowledge to the individual.
Online games reignited the passions of participants
The majority of the participants revealed that online gaming reignited their passion for certain initiatives. These initiatives can range from real-life circumstances such as driving race cars or watching movies and others. A few of the participants reiterated that the video games equipped them with a new sense of passion, thus making them create new resolutions in their lives. However, there still exists a debate surrounding the nature of the games; some developers appreciate a mere resemblance to the real world, but some critics believe that the games shouldn’t tamper with reality. The debate, however, was challenged by 39% of the participants, who stated that the game should be similar to the attributes of the physical world.
