In a survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of MysteryVibe, researchers concluded that 3 in 10 Americans believe their sex drive has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the survey of 2000 Americans, 32% of the respondents admitted to hiding a secret kink from their partners. Some of these kinks were trying a new sex position for 44%, roleplaying for 21%, BDSM for 22% and public sex for 23%.
Of the participants, 46% wanted to spice up their sex life but feared their partners’ judgment. Another 4 in 10 were more open to exploring their sexual desires. Men were more open to the idea (54%), while only 30% of women felt the same way.
However, some of the respondents considered some of the fantasies too taboo to try.
When it came to BDSM, 24% of the respondents believed this, 27% for group sex and 26% for S&M. Women were more likely to consider group sex off-limits (25%), while 32% of men felt the same way about S&M.
How the participants felt about sex toys
Some respondents wanted to experiment with sex toys (40%) but were afraid of their partners’ reactions. This included 23% of women and 43% of men.
When it came to the types of sex toys, some found whips (23%), anal beads (24%) and butt plugs (27%) to be the most intimidating. Only 30% of women said they were uncomfortable with bringing up sex toys to their partners, while almost 50% of men felt this way. Another 56% of respondents thought it was more socially acceptable for women to use sex toys than men.
According to Dr Soum Rakshit, the CEO of MysteryVibe, sex toys can be a great way for you and your partner to bring your fantasies to life together and thus improve your relationship. However, finding a toy that will work for both of you is not easy as not everyone has the same erroneous zone.
Among the 2000 respondents, 25% respondents would break up with a partner who wasn’t willing to experiment sexually. This included 19% of women and 34% of men. Of the respondents in relationships, 57% felt they had to learn to communicate with their partner regarding sex. However, they did not know where to start.
