Americans say how they would like to spend summer

About 56% of the study participants said that they felt like themselves this summer, and as more of them continue to leave their homes for the summer, they have made plans for how they would like to spend it. Americans plan to attend weddings, concerts and dinners. About 7 in 10 have placed supporting small businesses as their biggest priority. Nearly 58% of the respondents plan to support bars, 66% support nail salons, while 70% support spas.

The researchers also gathered 1000 Americans who owned small businesses to ask how they prepared for the summer. Many said that they were still going to implement safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Another 76% will keep their workweek short, and 57% will keep making contactless delivery.

As people go back to their pre-pandemic lifestyle, about 8 in 10 businesses are experiencing a surge in business, with 67% of business owners saying they had difficulty finding space for their customers.

Small businesses try to improve their social media presence

According to the CEO of DaySmart, Pat Shanahan, consumers have to maintain their happiness and health after experiencing a challenging year. Since integrating with their community and small businesses can contribute to their satisfaction, business owners will likely see a boom.

About 17% of business owners admit their customers want them to enhance their social media presence. About 46% of businesses are trying to improve their presence online. Business owners used different social media platforms such as TikTok (75%), Snapchat (83%), and Pinterest (86%).

Shanahan adds that some things will likely remain the same after the pandemic as people find them better. Small business owners will have to focus on customer feedback to stay on top of consumers’ needs hence attract more customers.
