In Education

A study conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Puffs reported that at least two-thirds of millennials decline to do household chores while ill. The study focused on 1,000 millennials and 1,000 Gen Z work employees to examine how they react when sick. It found that 54% used their sickness to excuse growing up.

Americans deflect their responsibilities to others

The household chores included doing laundry, purchasing groceries, and cleaning their apartments or rooms. The study revealed that their inability to do so deflects responsibilities on their unlucky roommates or parents.

Two-thirds of the Respondents admitted that working from home while ill makes it difficult to justify their employers. The study revealed that 64% of Gen Zers are less likely to take a sick day than 74% of the millennials. In addition, the study authors highlighted that 26% of millennials frequently miss school due to a minor illness.

The study also published that four out of 10 Gen Z participants rarely missed school, and they can stifle around and sneeze when ill but still prefer working. In addition, at least three-fifths of the Respondents feel an obligation to work while ill because they fear falling behind.

At least 67% of the Respondents admitted to thinking they were being judged for their red noses and sniffles. The study highlighted that one in four people fear the two illnesses, while a few fear congestion. Three-quarters of the Respondents reported that they became anxious for the lack of tissue or wiped at hand to wipe the nose after sneezing.

Americans drink different beverages when ill

Several Gen participants turn to tea, and at least 27% of the millennials chose coffee as their treatment drink. When forced to take a sick day, 59% see it as a chance to catch up with their children, while 68% prefer re-watching childhood movies and shows. The shows include kid programs such as SpongeBob Square Pants, Full House, Clifford, etc.

When asked about sick day necessities that they must have, 71% revealed that they required boxes of tissues, 69% warm blankets and pajamas, 42% chose a humidifier, and 30% chose a Neti pot.
